opposites attractCollege Park, Georgia and Chicago, Illinois are 2 totally different places in all essence of the word. So everything about them both are on different sides of the spectrum, especially the people that come out of them. I was raised in a court way building, something like a project. I had both of my parents for the first 8 years of my life and the rest of my adolescent maturation phase was pioneered by all women who had been through every struggle you could imagine. I was taught don’t date any man that cant do anything for you. Don’t settle for less than I deserve. Work hard and get your own bread. Keep your head and your heat on one accord. Look out for me first, second and last, because I am my only responsibility. These were the bi laws in my family and I honored them as much as I could. Then I grew up and got older and realized eh… maybe those that wrote the bi laws should go and look them over again. We’re taught that our “youth” is to be sacred and enjoyed. Be proud of being alone and take heed to your freedom for when you decide that you no longer want to be free your good life as you once remembered it is now over.

I beg to differ. Being set up and guided on what to look for only lead me to failure. So when I jumped out on a limb and dated who I feel like is my complete opposite here are some of things I found as good reasons to definitely fall in love with someone who loves black if you love white, if you get where I’m going with this.

I’m very outspoken, nonchalant, frivolous, impulsive and rather childlike with a lot of things. So sometimes I take what I feel like I deserve over what has to be done. I’ll think I’m planning for the future and things will turn out right, only for them to come crashing down and I’m wondering how in the heck did I get here? Meanwhile I’m broke and calling my Nana to ask for $20.00.

My guy is rather friendly, quiet and to himself for the most part. Hes calculated and only certain things get his attention. He doesn’t open up and talk about anything and before me he didn’t feel anybody cared to hear what he had to say. In addition to that he’s very…cheap but he’s efficient. All of the bills are not only paid, but they are paid on time. There’s enough gas in the car to make it through the week and we have enough food in the house to make it until the stamps come back on. In the beginning there was rarely any extra money leftover because I had found a way to spend it all but slowly but surely I started to watch him and take heed to what he was showing me in his …tight fisted nature.

Yes I probably made that up, but you and Bae may be extremely different and thats good. It allows for new things to be learned and appreciated. My guy doesnt like talking at all,its the craziest thing because when he starts to open up he has some really great things to say. He knows that learning him in and out is very important to me so against his comfort level if I pry a little bit, he adheres and answers whatever annoying questions I may have.

The both of us have really dominant personalities so neither wants to bow down and it created tension once we got past our honey moon phase. But even in all of that darkness, we learned that we loved each other enough to change, bend and adjust for the betterment of our relationship. That was very uncomfortable for us because it was new. However, it was and has always been worth it.

The wonderful thing about humans is that we are programmed to want to learn and when we find something  we are fond of we take our time to get the best of it. Romanticism is based within intimacy and the most intimate thing one could do is to be patient throughout your partner’s growth process. Whenever people don’t necessarily understand something to the fullest, they try hard to learn and become fluent in that particular field or matter.

But as life and love go on and the two of you become one and the beauty of interdependence begins to show itself. Being able to count on some undeniably is seriously a breath of fresh air and unfortunately those that are just like us aren’t really reliable. Truth is somebody’s always expecting something. When we first got together I held everything back, my emotions, my thoughts, my heart, all of it. I was selfish in all aspects of the word, he quickly showed me that he would lay down his guard to love me properly. The old me is so happy he brung the new me forward.

Opposites attract yall
