Within the shrouded jungles of Africa lies the hidden country of Wakanda. It is in Wakanda that King T’challa (Chadwick Boseman) resides. He must fight for his countrymen and uphold the family name. He does this by using the mantle of Black Panther passed down through his family. Wakanda is highly sought after for Vibranium. This ore is utilized to help the country surpass any modern technology in existence. Wakanda, seen to the outside world as a poor third world country, uses  magic and science to deliver a societal paradise.

The Vibranium has been used to make  extremely powerful objects. For example, Captain America’s shield is made out of the stuff, and during a fight with Thor (the Norse Thunder God) even his mighty hammer had no effect on it . This powerful resource makes Wakanda a huge target for many interest groups, and gives King T’challa a lot to deal with.

Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan),  is  the main villain of the movie. When  the secondary villain Ulysses Klaw (Andy Serkis) was being driven out of Wakanda for his multiple crimes against the country. Killmonger’s family was killed in the violence. Klaw took the young Wakandan with him to the United States. Killmonger is one of the few people in the Marvel universe that is close to an equal to T’challa’s intellect and physical prowess. Some of the smartest minds in the universe have admitted to Black Panther’s intelligence and some of the greatest martial artists and hand-to-hand fighters have spoken words of praise of the King of Wakanda being his equal is no small feat. That will make their rivalry in the film really interesting to watch.

In the movie we’ll be seeing traces of lesser known characters of Black Panther’s stories taking on main roles, like the wives-in-training. These women are trained to be the wives of the king. It was previously discontinued until King T’challa reinstated the program. The wives-in-training also serve as bodyguards and valets to the king. Notable members include Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) which we can expect to be the main love interest in the movie. Also there’s Okoye (Danai Gurira) one of the most notable warriors in the program which we’ll probably see kicking butts.

With a predominantly Black cast, Black Panther is expected to be a blockbuster hit. The movie doesn’t hit theaters until February 16th and already tickets across the country are selling out for opening day, so get your tickets while you can.

See ya at the movies!
