Hey Fashionistas! So do you ladies remember a few months ago I suggested you read #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso??? Well guess what? She turned it into a Netflix serious! Yes, we now have a visual representation of the trials and tribulations of Nasty Gal’s founder.

GirlBoss debuted on April 24, 2017 and I must say I was impressed! I finished watching it within 2 days! There are 13 thirty-minute episodes. It loosely follows the early events of Sophia’s life and how she started Nasty Gal. The show was created by Kay Cannon and executive produced by Sophia Amoruso and Charlize Theron.FullSizeRender406

The show is similar to the book, but the show gives you all the details! Britt Robertson stars as Sophia and she killed it! She was absolutely fearless playing this role. The show not only follows Sophia, but the relationships she had with other people. (Best Friend, boyfriend, neighbor, ect.)

I found this Netflix series to be just as inspiring as the book. I feel like a lot of woman can relate to Sophia’s personal and business life because I know I did. Starting a business can be very tricky and you will encounter a lot of failures before you see success. I am experiencing this right now! Its so many different aspects to not only starting a business, but also keeping it.

Sophia found determination in knowing that she never ever wanted to work for anyone else. She kept going no matter what life threw at her. From cheating boyfriends to online trolls threatening her business. She handled it just like a GIRL BOSS would. This series was made to empower millennial women like you and me.

My favorite moment from the show was when she had sold her first vintage piece and she realized she had a finally found her calling. My second Favorite moment was when Sophia had gone through so many obstacles to finally get her website up and she sold every item in one day. The joy she had on her face gave me butterflies and more importantly HOPE for my own business.

Top 3 lessons I learned from watching the show

Its so important to use your God-Given talent to the fullest. Try new things…Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. You never know that the outcome of  your creativity may turn into a million dollar business.

2. Balance Your Business and Social Life

Yes Fashionistas it is very important to also have a personal life. All work and no play will drive you insane. Spend time with your friends and family. Reward yourself for your hard work! If you have positive relationships with these people…you just may draw some inspiration from them.

3.Never Give Up

You will encounter some situations that will set you back. Pick yourself up and keep moving forward. Staying in a place of failure or negativity for too long will cause you to give up on your dreams!

If you found inspiration after reading the book, then you are sure to find more after you finish the series!

I am a 25 year old from 219, Indiana. I love shopping for pieces that are different and that I know nobody else will have! But one thing I hate about shopping is going broke doing so. Throughout the years of me working in retail, I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks for saving LOTS of money when shopping. I also go against trends by Vintage shopping. I find pieces that I can pair together to create works of art. You can call me a penny pincher, but I'll look BOMB while pinching my pennies :)
