There is no better place to celebrate the 4th of July than in Chicago. The city is full of things to do for your holiday entertainment. Whether you’re throwing a huge party or sitting on a blanket and watching the Navy Pier fireworks, here’s how to really get it poppin’ this Independence Day.

By far, the largest attraction of the city is the annual firework show hosted at Navy Pier. Enjoy an amazing and spectacular show that can be seen from all over the city. Starting at 9:30pm, the show usually lasts 15 minutes with some beautiful fireworks that bring loud reactions from the crowd. The fireworks will be in sync with patriotic music. This is perhaps the biggest and best attraction of the city that night and no city can beat Chicago’s outstanding firework display.

Grant Park will also host a music festival on Wednesday for those looking to soothe their mind with some patriotic melodies. For 80 summers, the festival has thrilled audiences with outstanding musical experiences. The show is from 6:30pm – 8:45pm.

Parking, of course, will be the biggest issue on the holiday. Don’t blow your budget on those expensive parking garages downtown. Instead, throw an old-fashioned backyard party with the family as a way to avoid the crowds and parking. Just turn up your music and get the grill going at the crib and your party’s already a success.

Don’t be afraid to light up fireworks in your alley as well. Your own firework show is always a good idea, as long as you stay safe doing it. Of course, the whole point of the 4th of July is to show your support for U.S. independence, so get creative with those outfits with some red, white and blue to honor the country.
