sunset_at_san_juan_puerto_rico_by_roses_to_ashesHello August.

We’re 8 months into the year that we swore would be ours. Make sure to check off all of those wonderful goals you told yourself you’d accomplish. Make this next 31 days the best and most comprehensive as you possibly can. Force yourself to learn something about something you didnt know in July. Set out to be a better person, human, spirit, soul than you were before.

This month was a trying one for me and I honestly did not know if and how I would make it to see August through my hardships and excruciating life lessons. But here I am smiling as I pack to go to San Juan, Puerto Rico in the morning. The sandy beaches, crisp air, new culture and rejuvenation is exactly what the doctor prescribed for me as this turn in my life has me leaning. I’m looking forward to leaving my old self in the clouds as we whip through the skies to travel from Atlanta to PR.

I never thought I get to see a place as beautiful as the pictures have shown me this territory is. Coming from the west side we just want to make sure we can afford to move up north with the wealthy people one day. At almost 27 I’m finally doing the type of traveling I wrote about in my dreams. The kind of scenery I riffed about in my songs. This 8 months has felt like a year of light in the darkness. Feeling like I’m getting older, but not moving closer to my dreams. This will be my 39th article and sometimes I’m still skeptical on what to say. I always want it to heartfelt, but still educational in a sense. One of my favorite people asked me “How do I sign up for your job?” today.

It made me feel like my own literary therapy is the white couch to a lot of other people. I started to look up what the number 8 meant, but then I decided against because somethings you just know already. To the less intune it’s the number after 7 and before 9. To those who want to make me understand they are not merely thoughts, but heavy emotions. It’s an infinity sign. Infinite change, growth, movement. This month, make your mark in the sand.

Next to mine. I’m going to let the ocean do what it does to things that need it. See yall when I get back.

With Love,

Storie Stone
