LA Experience: Traffic

So I’ve always heard that when going anywhere in LA, add 30 minutes to whatever your GPS says because it’s just that much traffic, but I kind of disregarded it because I’m from Chicago and used to lots of cars and rush hour.

But LA is a different ball game. You have to add 30-45 minutes on your commute time. It took me 56 minutes to get to a place that was literally a 16 minute drive away–LA rush hour is all the time.

While their public transit system, the Metro, is definitely not as thorough as the CTA, it works and is worth learning to use to avoid some of the traffic.

P.S. Taking the streets doesn’t cut down the time, the only way around the traffic is to take the express lane but that’s for carpool only and is a toll…
