Hey Fashionistas,

Do you remember when I gave you a review for the Netflix show GirlBoss. Well I hope you do because it is so relevant to my life right now. lol

On Episode 2 “The Hern”, Sophia realized she was able to make money by selling vintage clothing after she sold her East/West leather Jacket.       She needed money and she needed it fast! She knew she had to obtain some more knowledge with running her eBay business, so she stole a How to Start a Business on eBay for Dummies book. She then realized she had to scour her local newspaper to find an Estate sale because she knew that she would hit the jackpot.

It was a Friday night and I received a DM from another Fashionista that I used to go to high school with. She said that there was an Estate sale in her neighborhood and that there were a lot of vintage pieces that I would love. An Estate sale? My eyes lit up because I immediately thought of that episode of GirlBoss.

For those of you who don’t know what an Estate Sale is it’s a sale or auction to dispose of a substantial portion of the materials owned by a person who is recently deceased or who must dispose of their personal property to facilitate a move. I know, I know…it sounds a little bit weird, but trust me it is an experience that EVERY fashionista needs to have.

I woke up the next day bright and early and made my way to the Estate Sale. I was greeted by the man of the house and as soon as he seen me he said “You must be here for my wife’s clothes, she was a snazzy dresser and I know you will find plenty.” I instantly got excited and the weird feeling I had about shopping around in a deceased woman’s closet went away.

The living room had dozens of bins filled with accessories and dove right in! I found some African Print pins, patterned bracelets, and a pearl body chain. (It had to be from the 70’s).

I then made my way to the master bedroom…I hit the jackpot! There was a walk in closet that had a bunch of designer dresses in it! I found a mauve colored Chanel dress that had a lace top. It was so beautiful! I then found a handmade mesh crop top. The mesh had been structured into to rose petals that were all over the shirt.

I wondered into the hallway and saw that there were coats galore in the closet. I ended buying a silver metallic short trench, a denim trench, and a fire red trench coat. I also was able to stock up on plenty of old school sweaters right before that Chicago cold hit.

I finally made my way to the basement and it was filled with luggage. I had been looking for a set of overnight bags for a good price and low and behold…There was a cheetah print set waiting on me! It came with a duffle bag, a carry on bag , and a matching makeup bag.

I spent about an hour and a half at that Sale and I ended up leaving with 3 Garbage bags full of vintage pieces! I only spent $20 bucks! Listen Fashionistas I know you see signs for estate sales and garage sales all the time! Take the time out to stop one day, you may be surprised at what you’ll find!

I am a 25 year old from 219, Indiana. I love shopping for pieces that are different and that I know nobody else will have! But one thing I hate about shopping is going broke doing so. Throughout the years of me working in retail, I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks for saving LOTS of money when shopping. I also go against trends by Vintage shopping. I find pieces that I can pair together to create works of art. You can call me a penny pincher, but I'll look BOMB while pinching my pennies :)
