The things that I find when I’m scrolling never ceases to amaze me.

You know when you see a video, but you haven’t clicked on it, so you just watching the video without audio? Well there were a few things that made me click on Rico Nasty’s POPPIN’ video.

  • The caption said something like “Me and my girl’s turn up song”, and Bodak Yellow just wasn’t cutting it anymore.
  • Rico herself was absolutely having the most fun I’ve seen an artist have in a visual in a while.
  • It also looked like she was saying something either highly disrespectful or threatening, or both. Which makes for a great track in my opinion.

So I clicked, and I instantly caught onto the bet. It was like when Back Up by Dej Loaf first came onto the radio, you weren’t even paying attention to her you were paying attention to how they mixed your favorite track. Now POPPIN doesn’t sample anything, but the beat is exactly what the title is.

The way that Rico even raps is completely lit. Her tone changes through the song and the production value goes so far. My favorite part has to be how she raps the second verse. Or maybe how her delivery is in the first verse. I don’t really know, but what I do know is that I love this song. Go for a listen because me and my girls definitely start our aux cord playlist with POPPIN’.
