Nicki Minaj ABC Family Comedy Series On Life In Production
Soon 33-year-old, rapper and songwriter, Nicki Minaj, will be on both the big screen again (‘Barbershop: The Next Cut’) and the small screen, in an untitled Freeform (previously ABC Family) series based on the rappers’ life in Queens. The series, executive produced by Minaj, will focus on Minaj’s upbringing with her Trinidadian family that lead to her rise to stardom.
ABC Family confirmed in a news release that Ariana Neal, known for her roles in ‘Get Hard’ and ‘Fruitvale Station’, will portray Minaj in her early years, before she became internationally known.
I literally cried watching her taped audition. I demanded to meet her! Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table & forcing her to stay on beat! Lol. Then pulled out all the attitude she had in her lil body. Haha! She’s tough! And so sweet & cute. #ArianaNeal #LilNicki Welcome to the family lil lady bug! 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘 #ABCFamily #Freeform #Nicki
Other cast members include: Selita Ebanks (‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’) will play the role of Grace, Nicki’s mother; Wesley Jonathan (‘The Soul Man’) will play Vincent, Nicki and Jaylen’s father; and McCarrie McCausland (‘Army Wives’ and ‘The Originals’) has been cast as Jaylen, Nicki’s older brother. Whoopi Goldberg will guest star as Nicki’s neighbor, Miss Martha.
Although the show has an air date to be determined, do you think it will be canceled before its premiere after Nicki’s recent Twitter back-and-forth with ‘Teen Mom’ star Farrah?
