It recently went down at the Genesis Convention Center in Gary, IN, where the PowerFest 7 tour made a stop. This concert showcased newer hip hop artists and gave fans a chance to see some big names perform up close. Some of this year’s opening acts included upcoming artists B Bandz, Lil Vo, MBK Twins, and Huncho Franklin to name a few. They all came out to do their thing and get the crowd ready for the main acts.

The headliners this year were Phor, Moneybagg Yo and G Herbo. Phor is a fast growing artist who started with Black Ink Crew (as in tattoos) then expanded into music. His single “Chi-town” has been hitting the radio frequently since its debut. This energetic performer has a nice sound and he’s not a artist to be slept on. Moneybagg Yo signed to Yo Gotti’s label CMG. He is steadily making a name for himself in the industry. His song “Doin 2 Much” hit the radio and he’s been taking off since then. Moneybagg Yo has been putting in work. He’s dropped two albums this year plus a joint album with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, so expect much more from him. G Herbo, a Chicago favorite signed to Cinematic Music Group, is currently reveling in the success of his latest album Humble Beast.

The well known artists made an appearance and had the whole arena jumping. There were some huge names in the building too. DJ’s Pharris,  Shagg Nice, and Nehpets made an appearance on stage, taking turns on the tables interchangeably. Rapper Nia Kay was there too, not to perform, but to see the concert herself, as she knew it was gonna be lit. Overall PowerFest 7 was a must see event and I’m personally excited to see what they have in store next year. Hope to see you guys there next time.
