The standards that society has set for women to be considered beautiful has definitely damaged self-love.

When I was growing up I had a very difficult time accepting the skin I was in. Like any teen…acne was a problem. I would beg my mom to let me wear makeup to cover it up like the other girls that I went to school with, but of course she said no. I just couldn’t understand why, but as I got older I began to understand that you must love yourself prior to enhancing your beauty.

I now feel like makeup is an option and not a necessity. I want every woman to understand this. No matter what you look like underneath all that beautiful glamour, you should be absolutely in love with it.

One Company that I truly believe embodies this value is Reimage Beauty. Not only is it a cosmetic company, but it is also a support system that encourages women to love themselves first!

Most companies sell cosmetics that are designed to cover you up, but Reimage has cosmetics that will enhance your natural beauty. Their items are designed to protect your skin and not damage it. The products are without ingredients such as parabens, talc, or gluten.

Reimage Beauty hosted a launch party and I must say I was so excited when I walked into the room.

The all white room was accented with diamonds and sparkles. There was also a backdrop on stage for guests to take pictures in front of. We were also able to take the pictures that we had taken home.

There were makeup artists that were giving attendees quick makeovers using all of Reimage’s products. I was also able to enjoy a spread of finger foods and drinks. There was also a brief dance performance that added even more uniqueness to the party. At the end of the night each guest received a gift bag upon departure.

I even had a few moments to interview the beautiful founder, Tearra Vaughn.

What was that life changing moment that made you want to break into the beauty industry?

” There are two things that made me break into the beauty industry. The first one was my own personal experience with skin care and makeup. I wanted to create something that was healthy and would uplift women. I also wanted to create a better product for women to use in general.”

When you were younger were you teased about any flaws you had?

“I was not teased about my skin because my mother was an “into skin guru”at the time. In 10th grade I told my mother that I wanted to start wearing makeup. We went to a makeup counter in the mall and when I was done, my makeup did not look age appropriate. I think this scenario helped me to help younger women because I want them to accept their natural beauty now and not later.”

What advice do you have for younger girls that are currently being teased or trying to keep up with societies vision of beauty?

“Believe in yourself. Inner beauty is what matters most and that inner beauty will reflect on the outside. Keep your head held high and know who YOU are”

What is your absolute favorite product that you have on your line?

“I have two products that I have to always have with me. The first product is the Smart Shade liquid foundation, it contains vitamins and sunscreens that protect your skin. The second product is the Smart massacre. It is all natural and organic. It does not harden lashes what so ever and the removal is super easy.”

Do you have any tips and tricks for caring for your skin under makeup?

“Always use a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer . Ladies, Change that pillow case! We sweat in out sleep and a lot of oil and dirt can be left on your pillow case. Remember to use chemical free and gentile detergents when washing your pillow case and sheets.”

Reimage Beauty also puts SMART in BEAUTIFUL by donating a portion of their purchases to organizations that “promote and encourage positive self-images, the interest of girls in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) based educational programs”

I am a 25 year old from 219, Indiana. I love shopping for pieces that are different and that I know nobody else will have! But one thing I hate about shopping is going broke doing so. Throughout the years of me working in retail, I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks for saving LOTS of money when shopping. I also go against trends by Vintage shopping. I find pieces that I can pair together to create works of art. You can call me a penny pincher, but I'll look BOMB while pinching my pennies :)
