IMG_0695With the social injustices being inflicted upon our brothers and sisters it would behoove me to speak about the way all of this mess effects each and every person of color. From Colin Kaepernick kneeling for what he believed in last year in addition to him being one of the best football players in the league , to him still being unemployed.

This country and the system that it follows constantly shows us that it was not built to serve or protect us.Working class. Blacks. Muslims. Women. Men. Humans. Knowing that Trump had the audacity to call our men out their names, who get out there and put their lives on the line for millions of dollars to entertain the mass majority. It hurts my feelings and it should hurt yours as well. You don’t have to be black to feel what we feel. You don’t have to enjoy football to understand that those men may look like they’re having fun, but they are at work just like you and me when we go clock in to the workplace that pays our bills.

Every person that kneeled understood that this means things are only getting worse. Auntie Maxine Waters informed us that we need to reclaim our time and stand up against the negative truths of this world, of this country. I watched football players get emotional at what’s been said and done. I listened to them get choked up when their mothers were referred to as “sons of b*****”. I honestly couldn’t imagine what I would do if my mother was the butt of someone’s joke at my expense simply because of what I know is my right.

The time of white supremacy is back and its rearing its ugly hesd again even after all history has taught us. The disgusting plight that those “fine people” according to the president, stand strong behind is just the tip of the ice berg. It’s true we have to destroy before we elevate, that’s doesn’t mean it isn’t sad. 2017 has been a very difficult year for people of color and as much as I want to solely blame trump I can not. We’ve lost so many of our people this year due to senseless violence and abuse. But trump has only added insult to injury by not adddressing it or doing what he is expected to do as the leader of what they call the “free world”.

I miss President Barack Obama. Not because he was a black president, it because he’s originally from Chicago and not because he was the dad that a lot of missed out on. But because he did he job as a human being first and then Commander In Chief. The things that trump has taken from people like myself are sickening. He parades around and says what he wants to and his followers don’t think twice about it because he feeds their racist, mysoginistic agendas. MY president was in Houston with the victims of that hurricane that lost their loved ones, lives and well being. Where was he?

I’m angry.

If you’re not angry that simply means you’re not paying attention. And if you’re not paying attention, you are for sure a part of the problem. My spirit is distupted and I’m not a political maven, so I neglect these sorts of topics, but I have a younger brother that is black. The man I love is black. And if you ask me, it is them who have targets on their backs.

With Love,
