Douriean Fletcher is the woman behind all the gorgeous jewelry that you saw on the movie that broke records at the box office, “Black Panther”.

Douriean has traveled to several countries in Africa and her collection was inspired from her travels. She not only customized jewelry for the movie, but also personal pieces for the stars that made appearances for press tours and even New York Fashion Week.

She has been designing jewelry for over 10 years. She had met a costume designer by the name of Ruth E. Carter. The two poured over each other’s love for fashion during their conversation. They later met up in 2016 where Ruth had been doing fittings on the set of “Roots” and Fletcher was an extra. Shortly after, Ruth had been hired to be the costume designer for “Black Panther”. She wasted no time and contacted Fletcher to be apart of this epic film.

She was shown images of what the production wanted her to create, but she had to filter those ideas and make them her own. A lot of her personality came threw the pieces she created.

Douriean Fletcher describes her jewelry as wearable art and after seeing “Black Panther” I completely agree with her. Her customized designed jumped off the screen and stood out. Once I found out who was responsible for it, I was so happy to hear that a Black Woman was behind this magic!

If you haven’t already seen “Black Panther”…what are you waiting for???

I am a 25 year old from 219, Indiana. I love shopping for pieces that are different and that I know nobody else will have! But one thing I hate about shopping is going broke doing so. Throughout the years of me working in retail, I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks for saving LOTS of money when shopping. I also go against trends by Vintage shopping. I find pieces that I can pair together to create works of art. You can call me a penny pincher, but I'll look BOMB while pinching my pennies :)
